Tip for September 19, 2008 - How do you conceptualize God?
Greetings Dear Ones,
How do you conceptualize God?
Do you think of God as a him with a white beard riding the
clouds?
Or perhaps a her with a kind and benevolent face?
Or perhaps you conceptualize it as nature...
Over the years many have had a hard time with the word God simply
because they do not define it. Its difficulty lies in the definition given
to the term by others.
It then triggers our conditioning in relationship to our religious
or non-religious up bringing.
Take some time this week and define the term so that it makes
sense for you. The term God means a lot more than we can ever really
ascribe to it any how.
The Tanach says, the beginning of wisdom is to fear God. The
word that is often translated as fear really means awe.
So the beginning of wisdom is to be in awe of God. If we
define God as something that goes beyond convention, if we speak of the
universality of this term we can quickly and easily begin our journey into
wisdom.
The way I do this is remember the old galaxy tee shirt that says
"you are here!" The beginning of wisdom is to perceive our significant
insignificance.
Many blessings, Dr. E
