You've all heard the myths and many have bought into them...

• There is something wrong with you if you are still single.
  
• There is a happily ever after.
  
• There is only one structure for a successful relationship.
  
• You are only complete with a partner.
  
• Breaking up is failure.
  
• If only you would change everything would be alright.
  
• If you learn communication techniques you will never have another relationship problem again.
  
• We have to stay together for our kids.
  
• Now that I am divorced I will never find love again.
  
• I am too busy for a relationship.
  
• All the good ones are taken or gay.
  
• I have too much baggage for a relationship.
  
• No one is good enough for me.
  
• Just waiting for someone to sweep me off my feet.
  
• A successful relationship is based on compatability.
  
• Opposites often attract.
  
• Long-distance relationships don't work.
  
• And the list goes on and on and on...

And while these things may be true some of the time, they are never true all of the time. Yet, because of the nature of the human mind, we accept these "truths" and live our lives based on them. We allow them to guide our actions in the world, and we create and perpetuate the myths by reinforcing them.
